The Story

Rudi Bekaert paints a vivid picture of the Brussels building he once lived in—an environment where casual homophobia, casual racism, and everyday intolerance reign supreme.

Though his gaze is unforgiving in its depiction of his characters’ flaws, the affection he has for them always makes them feel endearing.

Since the story takes place in Belgium, it offers a gentler entry point into difficult topics like racism and homophobia… in line with the well-known saying: “You always need someone more Belgian than yourself!”
